Not a ‘natural’ networker, Neil only started to network and see its benefits in his 30’s, first when he was looking to change career. Then in 2005, he set up his own consulting business and began to realise its amazing power.
For almost 20 years now, he and his team have been working with a wide variety of clients on a diverse set of projects. The one thing these projects have in common is that (with the exception of 1 keynote talk, where the organisers found Neil via Google) they have all come from people in their existing networks, either directly or via referral. Armed with this insight, Neil has become passionate about spreading the word on networking. It is not just for the ‘natural’ networkers!
Many working professionals are ‘reluctant’ and convince themselves ‘it’s not for me’. Having published The Reluctant Networker in 2010 and a second edition in 2016, Neil has given over 70 inspirational talks showing how everybody can benefit from networking, without having to undergo a personality makeover!
The book has been featured in leading publications such as The Sunday Times, The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph and People Management. Neil has appeared as a guest on BBC Radio and as a networking expert on The Guardian’s Live Q&A.
